Pippa begins the toning trial with Slendertone Flex

I was desperate to try out a Slendertone Flex toning belt for several reasons:

- complete cynicism that they didn’t work, therefore very curious!
- I graduated last year and so now have no money to afford one myself
- my lifestyle has had a mad change from being a busy student, rushing between lectures, the gym and my even busier social life, to a receptionist – which is in itself really busy, just sat on my backside all day working at a computer!

At the moment I can’t afford the gym membership, so I try and walk most places, which is the only proper exercise I’m doing, along with the old sit-ups and crunches back at my flat.
I used to have a BMI of 17 (maybe a bit too low) but it’s now shot up to 25 over the last couple of years, and so it’s time to get it back down again. Apart from the random, inconsistent exercise, I do in general eat really healthily – everything’s homemade, never ready meals or take-away – just the odd bit of chocolate indulgence which every girl needs!

An huge appeal to using a Slendertone Flex belt, is that you can get on with other things whilst you’re toning – a massive advantage in a busy schedule. There’s so much I’d like to do – getting back in to my dancing and going to the gym, but other commitments come first at this moment in time.

I received the belt last week but didn’t get home until after 11pm totally shattered. In my excitement though I tried to read through all the instructions in my tired state and got the controller on charge. Initially I found it quite hard to get the positioning right, as the pads weren’t working equally on either side of my waist – something i’m still working on.

The belts intensity ranges from 1-99 and it recommended to start at an intensity of 15. So, always being one to follow instructions, I used level 15, but have subsequently gone up to intensity 55, where i can definitely feel it starting to work. It also recommends that you only use it five times a week and give your muscles a ‘rest’. At first I thought that was a stupid idea, but I definitely needed a rest this morning – may use it again tonight though. I’ve only used it four or five times, so I’m not expecting to see any results yet, but really hoping it lives up to my expectations!…

Hey Pippa – well it’s nice to read about someone who sounds very similar to me, trying out Slendertone. From reading your entry I think the main difference between us is age, as I’m sure you’re not 38! My BMI is now at 25 so definitely need to get it down (I’m possible about a stone and a half overweight).

It’s interesting that you mentioned needing a rest as I haven’t felt that so far, despite being up to Programme 4 with an intensity of 85
(which I most definitely can feel). You’ve given me the nudge I needed to push it up higher; I too would like to feel that I ‘needed a rest’.
