Does Electrical Muscle Stimulation technology work?

We are here to answer that question.
A team of us, well I’ve actually roped my work colleagues, into trying out a range of toning belts, which claim to help tone and shape various parts of our body. We’re all very keen to find out whether they really do work and we will be reporting our experiences weekly over the next few months. Our online diary will hopefully keep us motivated and committed to the trial.

We are going to kick start our experiment with the toning belt which focuses on the abs- Hopefully we will see some postive results!

Please note that all trials are independant and Slendertone do not directly contact the user, we encourage people to leave their comments of their own experiences and share their Slendertone experience.

    FACT: EMS does work.

But if you really want to see what it can do, forget these belt things and try a session on the Body Transformer. It is the hardest, most intense workout you will ever have. Working over 90% of the skeletal muscles simultaneously, Body Transformer is like no other product out there. One 20 minute session can deliver the muscular stimulation equivalent to 18 times that of a 90-min weight training workout. The results are sensational.

I spent lots on my Slendertone Arms equipment last summer. After about 8 days, I physically couldn’t stand increasing the intensity any more and over the course of the next few days it would rise significantly further.
Sad to say it’s been banished to the back of the wardrobe.
I tried the pants too but found them far too fiddly to get on and off without ruining the pads. The pads moved about too, and stuck to me.. the shorts.. the fine hairs on my legs.. everything really! Back to the shop with those. Shame because I’m a real advocate of Slendertone Body, which I’ve had for years.

Hi i was going to invest in a Slendertone belt. I am asking if you think i should shell out the extra cash for the slendertone system abs (around £120) or should i just get the slendertone flex max (i can get one for £60). Is double the price worth it?
    Thanks

Unpacked my Slentone belt from storage, after a couple of years. Replaced battery, still works great. But, my manual was not with the belt. Can’t remember how to use all the buttons. Tried to locate manual on web. No results. Please, help.

    Hi
I’ve just got my Slendertone Flex and had my first go to see what it does. I could only feel the side pulses not the main one on my abs, should it be like that on the low intensity? Only got up to 18!

    Thanks
    Ken

    Hi Ken
The pulses that you are feeling are the muscles in your abs on the right and left hand side being stimulated, the centre pad is used as a return path for the electrical current, there are no muscles in this area so you won’t feel pulses there.
It will take a while before you feel brave enough to go to a higher intensity level, don’t overdo it as you can “pull” a muscle in this way. If it doesn’t feel comfortable, turn it down. Once you get used to the stimulation, you will be able to go to a higher setting, it is not necessary to go anywhere near 100%.

Yes, you can buy extensions for the belt if this is not the correct size for you. :)

    Hey all

Slendertone sounds pretty cool but don’t know if it is available in South Africa? Has anyone on this site been using the Slendertone for at least a few months? And if so, have you noticed significant changes in terms of larger, stronger muscles (arms) and tighter, thinner tummies?

It sounds too good to be true, but I’d like to hear from people who have been going at it for a few months to see how it has helped your fitness. Maybe submit before/after pics or just share your results?

    Thanks!
    Hendrik
