Is Slendertone a scam?
Is Slendertone a scam?
I was reading some of the reviews on Slendertone today and some of them claim it’s a scam. Some of them say “Slendertone is a waste of your money!,” some say “don’t bother getting a toning belt, exercise will give you that flat tummy.”
Most of us in this blog have trialed Slendertone belts on our arms, bums and tums and we all have had different experiences. Reflecting on those who have trialed the toning belt, it certainly is not the miracle cure to get super slim, however it does contribute to body toning. It’s also a convenient toning belt which can be used almost anywhere and everywhere.
You need to complement the use of the Slendertone by also working out. As long as you are regularly burning off more calories than you are consuming then the results are very good and your abs do become solid. It’s hard work and dedication is required!

Karate Kid’s progress to Slendertone System Abs
Another week whizzed by, continuing to use the Slendertone belt and increasing the intensity. I have moved
up to programme 7 that gives a 40 minute workout which is less intense than programme 6 but say is for duration training. I will probably alternate between the two and try some of the lower ones.
I did feel some tingling down my left leg and must have had the belt in the wrong position to start with or maybe the pads are beginning to wear already after 10 sessions?
The stomach muscles certainly are working whilst using the belt but also the back and side muscles are noticeable. I am not sure if any results are seen as yet but I did a workout on my total gym yesterday and one particular exercise I do that involves the abs was a lot easier.

Salsa Chick steps up to the Slendertone Flex Max challenge
So this is it – the girl who’s never knowingly had a stomach muscle now has the Slendertone Flex Max. Very
excitedly I opened the box and ‘prepared’ my Flex Max. Whilst normally being an advocate of instructions, I was so eager to try my Slendertone that I scanned quickly and just put it on (I promise I’ll read the instructions thoroughly before I next use it).
What’s my background? Well, I’m a Salsa dancer & teacher and whilst I eat fairly healthily, can’t resist the ‘cakes’ in the office and chocolate. I try and walk where I can and every morning do 10 minutes on a Cross Trainer or Total Gym (at home). I HATE the thought of going to the Gym and any exercise that doesn’t involve fun of some sort BUT having had a weight problem since the age of 13 have to keep on top of things. Also, I’m married to Karate Kid and he’s the epitome of discipline so is always on my case about what I eat and what exercise I do.
Some years ago, friends had a muscle stimulation ‘thing’ with pads. They tried it on me and said they’d keep it low as it was new, however, they had to turn it right up before I could feel it – not sure what that means but I’m sure it’s down to my lack of any apparent muscles in the stomach area.
Last night I put the new Slendertone Flex Max on. First it was a bit too high (I have a high waist so that’s probably why) – so I moved it down a bit so it was slightly below my waist. I tried to increase the intensity till I could feel it but it only went up to 4 – think that’s because it was my first time. That was for 20 minutes or so. Then after that, I put it on again and managed to increase it to 5 – this was a stronger feeling, again for 20 minutes. It was strange – a little bit tingly but didn’t stop me working away on a spreadsheet on my PC. J
I’m looking forward to trying again tonight – increasing the intensity and checking the position is correct, and reading the instructions of course!

My silhouette has significantly improved with Slendertone System Shorts
I’m in my fourth week, and I’m really into the routine of using the Slendertone System Shorts now.
Though initially difficult to get used to putting them on, it’s a bit less time consuming, and I am definitely seeing the results!
I feel that my silhouette is significantly improved, and I feel more comfortable in my jeans.
It’s no replacement for regular exercise, but definitely a worth while addition.

Vicki’s progress with Slendertone System Mini
Tonight will be the third night I’ve used it since the weekend and i plan on using it tomorrow and once more at the weekend.
I was a bit worried about using it tonight as my bottom felt quite bruised from using it last night. I think i put the intensity up too high rather than doing it gradually and it really feels like I’ve been to the gym doing a whole class of squats! The instruction leaflet tells you to gradually increase the intensity and the duration of the sessions but i used the stomach and bottom one together last night for two lots of 20 minutes.
The 1st set of 20mins i had my bum on 54 and my stomach on 54. For the second set of 20mins i put my bum up to 70 and my stomach on 68.
My ribs hurt from it today but at the time i found i got used to it really quickly and if you keep busy round the house you hardly notice it! I didn’t realise the session had finished until about 10mins later!
I love the stomach Slendertone. I think its really easy and comfy to wear and you can disguise it quite well if you want to. Eg: going for a jog you can ware it under a T shirt. However the bottom Slendertone looks very funny on and you definitely wouldn’t leave the house in it! If your going to play netball then fine! But i think if your brave enough to walk round the house with electrodes on your fatty bits anyway they could have come up with a design that rather than cover you up with a skirt make it easy to hide under trousers or shorts. When i took it out of the box for the first time i was surprised to see it was a skirt rather than cycling shorts!

Rachael’s final thoughts on Slendertone System-Abs
Posted by Rachael
The slendertone belt was beneficial in the way that your abs felt toned after use, but I think you have to think of it as more of an accessory. I have used it in conjunction with my normal exercise routine and have felt overall more toned from it.
I think I will definitely continue to use the belt, but in addition to regular exercise as well.
I think the trial has just confirmed my original thoughts that if you want to lose weight and tone up, there is no quick fix. You have to combine diet with exercise and implement this with your lifestyle. Exercise needs to be fun, challenging and regularly reviewed and changed. I Think it is like anything in life, if you want outstanding results you have to be prepared to put the work in!
Thanks for including me in the trial, I found it very beneficial.
